Light Therapy Facials: The Collagen Boosting, Acne-Reducing, Anti-Aging Answer

Renew Me Medspa has a light therapy machine that you MUST know about, so I’m sharing my experience with you here. They’re one of only 6 establishments who have this light therapy machine in the U.S. and the procedure is quick, non-evasive, and super helpful.

MY VISIT
I arrived on a Thursday afternoon, loved that the waiting room is designed so that people are safely distanced, the treatment rooms are immaculately kept, and— as always— we were received so kindly by our skincare specialist, Beatriz. Beatriz is a doctor (Ph.D.) of dermatology and is so very knowledgeable. Ask her anything!

Beatriz escorted me back to the treatment room, thoroughly analyzed my skin, and suggested a game plan for my light therapy session. I currently have a bit of acne going on around the jawline (hormonal fluctuations) and am always concerned about taking care of my aging skin. I was given a pair of protective goggles and laid down on the comfy spa bed while the lights took care of my face and decolletage for about 20 minutes. I am a chatterbox, so Beatriz and I caught up while I underwent treatment (love her). I immediately noticed that my skin was smooth and plump after the treatment—- and no products were used (now THAT’s what I’m raving about)!

Usually, a facial is performed before light therapy is administered but, since my visit took place during phase II of Virginia’s re-openings, we bypassed the facial (no contact) and went right to the light therapy session.

BOTOX/FILLERS
Renew Me Medspa offers Botox, too. I asked about them but decided I don’t need them right now. IF you desire Botox, asl! They will analyze your skin and explain where they might inject for the best results, depending on your own personal needs/concerns.

LOVES
-Light therapy has downtime, no irritation, no peeling/flaking, no pain, no redness, etc.
-I noticed positive results immediately and my skin was in such amazing condition for quite some time after.
-The lights boost collagen growth on a cellular level (we lose this ability in our 20's).
-Different frequencies/colors of light function differently and the dermatologist will program the light machine to deliver the frequencies you personally need for your skin. In my case, we used blue light as an antibacterial for acne, red light to boost collagen, and pink light in between.

WHAT I DIDN'T EXPECT
-The fine lines diminished and my skin was glowing immediately after the light therapy session!
-The dermatologist was thorough, honest, and kind about what I did/didn't need. They didn’t try to sell additional services/products to me that I didn’t’ need. So happy about that!

NOTE: This is my 3rd light therapy facial and I’ll be back again soon as the effects are long-lasting. I purchased a 4-pack of light therapy sessions (saves money) as I know that consistency is key. The more often one visits, the better the results over time. This is one of my forms of self-care, so I take care of my skin often.
