FAD Market Spotlights Makers for Black Business Month

FAD Market’s upcoming installment on Governors Island will feature an exciting line-up of 40 New York City homegrown makers, artists, designers, and entrepreneurs, offering one-of-a-kind handcrafted jewelry, art, apparel, bath and body care, tableware, home furnishings, condiments, spirits, and beverages.  

In celebration of Black Business month, we are taking this moment to spotlight the 17 Black-owned women-led businesses that will be joining us on King Ave at Governors Island on August 21 and 22 from 11am to 5pm.

We will be a short ferry ride from Manhattan’s Battery Maritime Building, Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6, and Red Hook’s Atlantic Basin.  

A New Day, A New Dawn: Hand-made jewelry using responsibly sourced African beads, fabrics, natural materials, and gemstones by Andrea Reed. 

Niem’s Naturals: Handmade pottery and kitchen essentials for your home by ceramicist
Katiah St. Omer. 

Ancestral Wellness Co.: Kendall Dominique reconnects communities with traditional and indigenous healing practices through plant medicine. 

Only You Skincare: This natural skincare brand was founded by MJ Johnson to be kind to the skin.  

Ariel’s Candle Shop: Highly scented candles and unique wax melts by Shaunet Rogers. 

Ruth Nathan’s: Bow ties, pocket squares, face masks, and lapel flowers by Nicole Brown. 

Askanya Chocolate: Gourmet bean-to-bar made with ingredients sourced from Haitian farmers and handcrafted in Haiti by women. Founded by Corinne Joachim Sanon. 

Sadity Scents Co.: Scented soy candles with inspirational quotes by mental health advocate Assata Terry. 

Avalah: A skincare company made with all-natural ingredients, essential oils, and luxurious scents by Alexzandra Denis. 

Seirenette NYC: Handcrafted Resin accessories by Roejendra Adams. 

Breukelen Rub Spice Co.: A family-owned Brooklyn-based spice company. 

Sip+Savor BX: A family-owned beverage company creating handcrafted drinks in classic flavors.   

Bubbly Moon Naturals: Cruelty-free vegan bath and body products featuring unisex scents and locally harvested ingredients by Marshalla Ramos-Inde. 

Touched Organics: Vegan and Organic company producing handmade products bath and body for men and women. Founded by Yolanda Marsh. 

Eye Glam: This eyewear company founded by Crystal Mack designs slick frames for all budgets. 

Woman to Women: Fashion brand influenced by founder Regine Andre’s Creole heritage. 

Filigree NYC: Women and men’s jewelry designed by Nickola Walker.
