Escape the Cold: Sentral Wynwood (Miami, FL)

Winter in the northeast is always brutal. Although I was born and raised in the DC area, I am still not accustomed to freezing temps and am always looking for ways to escape the cold. Miami is always a hot spot for doing so, so this year I decided to check out Wynwood!

Wynwood is a neighborhood in Miami that is vibrant, colorful, alive, and ever-changing. It’s famous for its Wynwood Walls, an outdoor museum that brings the world's most talented street-genre artists to Miami. In the past, the Wynwood Walls was about all you could come to see in Wynwood—— not anymore.

I stayed at the Sentral Wynwood as it’s located in the heart of it all and is within walking distance to all of the Wynwood favorites. It’s surrounded by the most unique cafés, restaurants, bars, shops, and more. Although it’s bustling with fun things to do and see, Wynwood is both alive and quiet at night. I love this because I can go out for a night on the town and still come back to a peaceful night’s rest at Sentral.

Sentral Wynwood is spacious, elevated in high-end finishes, pup-friendly, and more than just a place to stay. I stayed for a weekend, but you can stay for a night or two— or even a year or more. I loved “working from home” from my studio, in the lounge areas, and next to the rooftop pool that overlooks Wynwood. Fresh coffee is supplied all morning and refreshing lemon water is offered for the rest of the day. If providing drinks and a luxury place to work/live/play in warm weather isn’t one of the best ways to enjoy life, I don’t know what is!

Each Sentral unit is equipped with a full-size kitchen, washer and dryer, raindrop shower, 55’ inch flat-screen TV, solar window shades in the living area, blackout curtains in the bedroom, and more. They’re spacious and elevated in designer furnishings (or not, if you decide to move into an empty apartment).

Its premium amenities have me swooning: a heated rooftop pool, outdoor grilling and dining area, remote coworking space with hi-speed WiFi, cushy entertainment lounge, and fitness center that is surrounded by glass so you can enjoy outdoor views from wherever you are.

As soon as I stepped into the Sentral Wynwood, I felt like I was home— even if just for the weekend. All spaces are immaculate and there is a hint of fragrance in the air (something of a gentle, woody, fresh, clean scent). As with most staycations/vacations, it was bittersweet at the end as I would have loved to stay. I’ll return soon!
