It's that time of year: Flowers are flourishing and you can capture them at their peak bloom times now in the DC area. Here’s where to go, and when. Which one of these gardens will you be headed to first? Most allow you to enjoy picnics on their grounds and/or take flowers home with you.

💛 SUNFLOWERS
McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management in Poolesville, MD has 30 acres of sunflowers that attract doves! These are best photographed in mid-July during sunset.

💜 LAVENDER
Seven Oaks Lavender Farm in Catlett, VA is a family-owned farm with vibrant, aromatic fields to snap photos. You can also cut the lavender and take home stems (perfect to create a relaxing environment). Visit June to mid-July (but the best time to visit is the last week of June).

💗 PEONIES
The Schwartz Peony Garden at Seneca Creek Park in Gaithersburg, MD is home to thousands of acres of greenery. Their peony garden is a hidden gem with bushes of perfect pink peonies that bloom through June.

❤️ ROSES
Bon Air Park in Arlington, VA has a rose gar­den that features more than 120 rose varieties. Who doesn't love roses? So classic.

💖 FLORAL VARIETY
The Bishop’s Garden at Washington National Cathedral in DC brims with blooms of all kinds. The cathedral is an architectural work of art! Bonus? The free parking right next to the garden!
